காவிரியில் புனித நீராடினால் புண்ணியம் கிடைக்கும் 

ஐப்பசி மாதத்தைத் தமிழில் துலா மாதம் என்பார்கள். துலா என்றால் தராசு. தராசு எவ்வாறு நடுநிலையைத் தன் முள் காட்டி நிற்கிறதோ, துலா மாதமும் பகலையும் இரவையும் சமமாகத் துல்லியமாகக் கொண்டுள்ளது என்பதை குறிக்கவே துலா மாதம். சூரியன் இந்த மாதம் துலாம் ராசியில் சஞ்சரிக்கிறார் எனவே இதுவும் ஒரு காரணமாயிற்று. 

 

காவிரியில் தினசரியும் நீராடினால் நன்மைதான் என்றாலும் ஐப்பசி மாதத்தில் காவிரியில் நீராடுவது காசியில் ஓடும் கங்கை நதியில் நீராடுவதற்கு சமம் என்று புராணங்கள் கூறுகின்றன. ஏனெனில் ஐப்பசி மாதமானது துலா மாதத்தில் கங்கை, யமுனை, சரஸ்வதி முதலான பாரதத்தில் ஓடும் நதி தேவதைகள் அனைத்தும் காவிரியில் நீராடி, தங்களிடம் மானிடர்கள் கரைத்துச் சென்ற பாபக்கறைகளைப் போக்கிக் கொள்கின்றது என்று காவிரி மகாத்மியம் என்னும் நூல் கூறுகிறது. 

 

எனவே ஐப்பசி மாதத்தில் எல்லா நாள்களிலும் காவிரி துலாக் கட்டத்தில் நீராடி, இறைவனை வழிபடுவது சிறப்பானதாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. காவிரி ஓடும் ஸ்ரீரங்கம், திருப்பராய்த்துறை, சங்கமேஸ்வரர் கோயில் படித்துறை, திருவையாறு திருவிடைமருதூர், பூம்புகார், பவானி, கும்பகோணம், குணசீலம், தலைக்காவிரி, திருச்சி முக்கொம்பு ஆகிய இடங்கள் புனித ஸ்நான கட்டங்களாகக் கருதப்படுகிறது. நீராடிய பின் அன்னதானம் செய்துவிட்டு, பெருமாளை தரிசித்தல் பெரும் புண்ணியம் என்பது ஐதீகம் 

 

மயிலாடுதுறையில், சிவபெருமான் ஐந்து வள்ளல்களாக ஐந்து இடங்களில் கோயில்கொண்டு பக்தர்களுக்கு அருள்புரிகிறார். மயூரநாதர் கோயிலில் பக்தர்களுக்கு அனைத்தையும் அருளும் வள்ளலாகவும், வள்ளலார் கோயிலில் ஞானத்தை வழங்கும் வள்ளலாகவும், காவிரியில் எங்கே ஸ்நானம் செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று வழி காட்டியதால், விளநகரில் துறை காட்டும் வள்ளலாகவும், மூவலூரில் வழிகாட்டும் வள்ளலாகவும், பெருஞ்சேரியில் பொருள் தரும் வள்ளலாகவும் சிவபெருமான் கோயில் கொண்டிருப்பதால்தான் 'ஆயிரம் ஆனாலும் மாயூரம் ஆகாது’ என்ற புகழுடன் திகழ்கிறது மயிலாடுதுறை. 

 

துலா காவிரி நீராடல் அழகு, ஆயுள், ஆரோக்கியம், செல்வம், கல்வி, மாங்கல்ய பாக்கியம், குழந்தைப்பேறு, வலிமை ஆகியவற்றை தரும். எனவே, காவிரியை நினைத்தாலும், சிறப்பைக் கேட்டாலும், பாபங்கள் விலகும் என்று நதி தேவதைகளிடம் பிரம்மா கூறினார். 

 

துலாக் கட்ட வைபவத்தின் கடைசி நாளான 'கடைமுழுக்கு வைபவம்’ அன்று நீராடி, மயூரநாதரையும் அன்னை அபயாம்பிகையையும் வழிபட்டால், அனைத்து பாவங்களும் விலகி, மோட்சம் கிட்டும் என்பது நம்பிக்கை.

மதனோடு நீருக்கு அலைதலுஞ் சேரும்

தானியமெலாம் பொன்னுக்கு நிகரொப்ப

நிற்கும் மெய்யே"

என்ற கொங்கணர் சித்தர் பாட்டிலிருந்து ஐப்பசி மாதத்தின் சிறப்புகளை நாம் தெரிந்து கொள்ளலாம்.

ஐப்பசி மாதத்தில் ஆறுகளில் நீர் பெருக்கு குறைந்து, நீருக்கு சிறிது தட்டுப்பாடும் அதிகரித்து தானியங்கள், காய்கறிகள் உள்பட அனைத்து பொருட்களில் விலைவாசியும் கூடும் என்று அறிந்து கொள்ளலாம்.

ஐப்பசி மாதத்தில் அனைத்து புண்ணிய நதிகளும் காவிரியில் சங்கமிப்பதாக ஐதீகம். இதனால் இம்மாதம் முழுவதும் காவிரி நதி பாய்ந்தோடும் அனைத்து இடங்களிலும் மக்கள் நீராடுவது வழக்கம். மற்ற மாதங்களில் காவிரியில் நீராட முடியாவிட்டாலும் கூட ஐப்பசி மாதத்தில் ஒரே ஒரு நாளாவது நீராடுவது சிறப்பாகும்.

அழகு, ஆரோக்கியம், கல்வி, செல்வ வளம், வலிமை, சந்தான பாக்கியம் ஆகியவற்றை இந்த துலா ஸ்நானம் தருவதாக கருதப்படுகிறது. குறிப்பாக ஐப்பசி மாத கடைசி நாளன்று மயிலாடுதுறையில் காவிரி நீராடல் வெகு சிறப்பாக கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது. இதனை காவிரி கடை முழுக்கு என்றழைக்கின்றனர்.

ஐப்பசி மாதத்தில் ஏதாவது ஒரு நாளன்று ஸ்ரீரங்கம் சென்று காவிரியில் நீராடி ஸ்ரீரங்கநாதர் மற்றும் ஸ்ரீரங்கநாயகி, ஆண்டாள் தாயாரை வழிபட்டால் வாழ்வில் சகல பாவங்களும் நீங்கும். சுக்கிர தோஷம் உள்ளவர்கள் இங்கு நீராடி ஸ்ரீரங்கநாதரையும் தாயார்களையும் வழிபட்டால் கடன் பிரச்சனைகள் தீரும், பொருளாதார நிலையும் மேம்படும். மேலும் திருமணமாகாதவர்களுக்கு பிடித்தமான மனதிற்கினிய வாழ்க்கைத் துணையும் கிடைக்கும் என்பது ஐதீகம்.

The month of Ipasi is called the month of Tula in Tamil.  Libra means scale.  The month of Libra is the month of Libra to indicate the neutrality of day and night, just as Libra stands for neutrality.  The sun travels in Libra this month so this was also a reason.

Although it is beneficial to bathe daily in the Cauvery, myths say that bathing in the Cauvery during the month of Ipasi is equivalent to bathing in the river Ganges which flows through Kashi.  This is because the month of Ipasi is the month of Tula.

It is therefore considered best to bathe and worship the Lord at the Cauvery Tulak stage every day during the month of Ipasi.  Srirangam, Thiruparaithurai, Sangameshwarar Temple Stairs, Thiruvaiyaru Thiruvidaimarudur, Poompuhar, Bhavani, Kumbakonam, Gunaseelam, Thalakkaviri and Trichy Mukkompu are considered as holy bathing grounds.  It is said that after bathing, giving alms and visiting Perumala is a great blessing

In Mayiladuthurai, Lord Shiva blesses the devotees with temples in five places as five vallas.  Sivaperumaan temple is not a thousand but a milestone because it has a source of blessings for the devotees in the Mayuranathar temple, a source of wisdom in the Vallalar temple, a source of guidance on where to bathe in Cauvery, a source of guidance in Vilanagar, a source of guidance in Muvalur and a source of meaning in Peruncherry.

Tula Cauvery Bathing gives beauty, life, health, wealth, education, Mangalya blessings, fertility and strength.  Therefore, Brahma told the river angels that even if one thinks of Cauvery and listens to the special, the sins will go away.

It is believed that if one bathes on the last day of the Tulak Katta ceremony and worships Mayuranatha and Mother Abhayambika, all sins will be removed and Motsam will be attained.

We can know the specialties of the month of Ipasi from Konkanar Siddhar Patil.

During the month of Ipasi, the water level in the rivers decreases, water shortages increase and prices of all commodities, including grains and vegetables, increase.

It is said that all the holy rivers converge at Cauvery during the month of Ipasi.  Thus, it is customary for people to bathe in the Cauvery River throughout the month.  It is best to bathe only one day in the month of Ipasi, even if you cannot swim in the Cauvery during other months.

This Libra bath is considered to bring beauty, health, education, wealth, strength and happiness.  Cauvery swimming is especially celebrated in Mayiladuthurai on the last day of the month of Ipasi.  This is called Cauvery Shop Dive.

 If you go to Srirangam one day in the month of Ipasi and bathe in the Cauvery and worship Sriranganathar and Sriranganayaki, the mother of Andal, all sins in life will be removed.  If people with Venus defect bathe here and worship Sriranganatha and their mothers, the debt problems will be solved and the economic situation will improve.  And for some as a baby gets older, he or she will outgrow this.
